It covers the full range of checks required by the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 and HSE guidance, including planning, competence, site conditions, the lift’s hydraulic and mechanical condition, load limits, safety devices, PPE, emergency arrangements and make‑safe procedures.

Use this checklist for:

  • Pre‑use inspection – verify the lift and surrounding area are safe before work begins.
  • In‑process checks – confirm the lift remains safe while in operation.
  • Post‑use sign‑off – ensure the lift is made safe and records are updated.
