Risk Assessment Description:

This electrical test equipment safety checklist template assists electricians, test engineers and supervisors in safely preparing, using and maintaining test instruments on low‑voltage electrical systems. It is designed for pre‑use, in‑process and post‑task inspections and follows the requirements of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, HSG85 and the HSE GS38 guidance note.

Use this checklist for:

  • Pre‑use inspections – confirm the equipment, accessories and surrounding work area are safe before any testing begins.
  • In‑process monitoring – verify that controls, isolation and protective measures remain in place while testing is carried out.
  • Post‑task sign‑off – record the condition of the equipment, log any defects and ensure safe storage.

Each question is answered Yes, No or N/A. Any “No” response must be addressed before work can continue or before the equipment is returned to service.
